Blog for work on my Masters thesis - a survey of methods for evaluating media understanding, object detection, and pattern matching algorithms. Mostly, it is related to ViPER, the Video Performance Evaluation Resource. If you find a good reference, or would like to comment, e-mail viper at cfar.umd.edu.

I have finished modifying viper-pe's evaluation to support user-selected distance metrics. Although I am still a long way off from supporting user-specified metrics, I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Unfortunately, some major modifications will have to happen in the scripting tools to support the user specified frame metrics to their fullest.

Evaluation of Intelligent Systems
A good web site that describes different experimental techniques. It is oriented to general experiments, with some focus on classical AI and planning. Its emphasis on PDF files is annoying but understandable given the mathematical content. It is a useful resource for deciding how to run an experiment, if you are not familiar with statistical methods.
